I developed a great fondness for recycling whilst in Vermont, where it was necessary. You paid a price for every bag of trash you threw away, so recycling became not only a way to help the environment, but a money saver. The habit of recycling every possible thing followed me back home to Montana. It's not only recycling trash, though.

Reduce: Don't buy what you don't need. Or as I like to amend, don't buy what you don't need or won't use for many, many years to come.

Reuse: Antique shopping or buying second-hand furniture that can be fixed up. I love doing this!

Recycle: It goes without saying that if you have access to recycling facilities, use them. It doesn't take a lot of time, and it's well worth the long-term benefits for everyone.
